word 2002 trying to save norm doc

When I write a doc and then save it then exit word it asks again to save doc but not the one I just completed. The doc is one called norm, the page is blank yet the message reads changes have been made to norm do you want to save these changes. What may be the problem and how can I fix it?
 
The file you are being prompted to save is the global template, Normal.dot.
If you are prompted to save Normal.dot *every* time you quit Word, then
something is wrong. If you are running Norton AntiVirus, disable the Office
Plug-in. If you got Word as part of Works Suite but are not starting Word
from Works, uninstall the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word. Otherwise,
