I mess up my Word 2002 and I can't figure out to fix it.
If someone has time maybe they could help me. I feel
stupid too because I can't figure out.
I was in Outlook 2002 and I did something there. I use
Word in Outlook.
When I go to Word, you know the margin tab that drops
down and stays down all the time, well now it only drops
down when you rub over it will the mouse. The rest of the
screen is just all white nothing on either side. You can
type all right but sometimes it runs off the right and I
don't know where I'm on the screen. I would like it to
stay down all the time and the on the left margin too.
You know the then (Line) that drops down and have little
numbers that start with 0 and goes to 10. The then that
controls the wrap around I think.
Now I'm typing this e-mail in Outlook using Word and it
is down all the time. But there is no margin on the left
at all.

Thanks very much for all your help.

Howdy,

Well, no, I am not certain that I do, but...

Go into Word and click View up at the top. A bunch of stuff
will drop down. Experiment with checking (o0r un-checking)
Ruler.

Does that change the setting of your concern?

All the best,

On the View menu, check the item for Ruler. That will cause the ruler to
display. To keep it from autohiding (just be on or off), clear the check box
for "Provide feedback with animation" on the General tab of Tools | Options.

If you are unable to tell where your margins are, it may be that you are in
Normal view. Switching to Print Layout view will help; even more helpful is
to display "Text boundaries" (View tab of Tools | Options). Also, if your
text is running to the edge of the screen in Normal view, it could be that
you have "Wrap to window" enabled (View tab of Tools | Options). Unless that
option is enabled, your text will always wrap at the right margin whether
you can see the ruler (or text boundaries) or not.

Suzanne,
I founded it before I read your message. So I should keep
it in Prinout all the time? I notice that when you switch
to the Normal View there is a line going down the page
with maybe a 1/2 inch space is that normal for that. And
the same thing happen when doing Headings when Outline
View. Is that the way it is suppose to do?
Thanks,
Tom

If you're seeing a separate section on the left side of Normal view, this
could be the Style Area. On the View tab of Tools | Options, if the style
area width is set to more than 0", you will have this area in which the
names of the style used in each paragraph in the document is displayed. But
there's nothing like this in Outline view. Perhaps you're referring to the
horizontal line that indicates the end of the document? This is visible in
Normal and Outline views. This is a handy indicator if you don't have
nonprinting characters displayed (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NonPrintChars.htm) because it will give
you a clue if you have a lot of empty paragraphs below the last text
paragraph in the document.
