I have installed Office XP on a Vaio notebook running Vista. I downloaded the
sP3 update and at some point Word began behaving oddly: when I seled Ctrl-S,
the save feature occurs in slow motion. The same thing happens every time I
use the Find command. I select Find, and the dialogue box opens very slowly.
I previously had an HP notebook running Vista on which I'd installed office,
but it didn't happen on that unit. Does anyone know anything about this
behaviour and have any advice?

Could you provide us with your computer specs? Have you installed any
software in addition to Office XP that might have affected the office suite?
You might also want to check Start > All Programs > Maintenance to see if
there are any logged Problem Reports and Solutions for Office XP
applications.

I have a Vaio VGN-NR160E, with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, T5250, 1.50
GHz; RAM: 1014 Mb; 32-bit O/S, Vista Home Premium. The stuff I don't
understand states "2 Mb L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB; DDR2-667 SDRAM," and I have a
160 Gb SATA (5400 rpm) hard disk. Does that help? I've installed malware
protection (AVG and Spybot), and Family Search software, iTunes & Quicktime -
but I had all these installed on the HP and Word ran fine. There were two
stray Office 2007 bits left over after I'd uninstalled the free trial that
came with the computer, which I uninstalled after I'd installed Office XP.
