Word 2002 glitch

Hi,
I purchased a brand new Dell computer with Word 2002 pre-installed. From
the first time I turned on the computer, Microsoft Word is stuck in a reduced
functionality mode. I can only view a document, that is all. The activation
process calls for inserting the original Microsoft Word disk and clicking:
Next. When I click next, nothing happens. All activation processes with
Dell Technicians have failed. Basically the Dell Technicians (who may have
never seen a PC before Dell hired them as experts), are stumped and have only
been able to send me new Microsoft Word 2002 CD’s. That’s all well and good,
but all the CD’s and dozens of uninstalls and reinstalls are not getting Word
out of reduced functionality mode. While I’m getting buried up to my armpits
with Microsoft Word CD’s from Africa, India, Mexico, Panama, etc., I have
been trying to get help from Microsoft, because it seems to be a glitch.
Word may have been installed incorrectly by the manufacturer and
unrecoverable. Microsoft refuses to help because it is a preinstalled
program and kicks me right back to Dell. I am currently at a stalemate. If
anyone who can help is kind enough to provide assistance, could you please

I assume that this is a full version of Word and not a time limited demo?
Check out http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm which
will enable you to clear the problems that can cause issues with word
installations and should enable you to activate Word.
