excel, powerpoint, publisher recognise contents of floppy disc
word doesn't recognise contents of same floppy disc

Never ever open or save documents from Word to floppy disc. Copy to and from
the hard drive and work there. Floppy discs are the major source of Word
document corruption and I believe recent security updates have inhibited
such access.

Hi Danny
You shouldn't save or open Word files from a floppy disk. It is the best way
to corrupt your file. The main reason is because Word uses temporary files
while you're editing a document and if there's not enough room on the floppy
for them, it will corrupt the main file.

Can you read the file in Windows explorer (my computer)? If so, take the
Word files off the floppy and save them to your hard drive and work on them
there. You can copy them onto a floppy as backup when you're done with
editing them.
