After using Windows install cleanup I reinstalled Word 2000 and all the
updates. It tells me that word is up to date. When I open Word it will stall
at the point where it shows the licence information and the screen will
become blank.
Can any one help?

Even with the /a switch?

suggestions?

The /a switch worked ok, none of the rest worked. It seems that some of the
folders are empty as if the instalation did not complete.

If Word runs correctly when opened with the /a switch, then this points to a
problem with Normal.dot, the Registry, or an add-in. You must continue the
troubleshooting steps until you determine which one(s) is/are causing the
problems.

Can not find Normal.dot Can not find Startup path in the registry. There is
no Data key. I do not have a network printer. I do not run Norton AntiVirus.I
do not have WinFax Pro.
Now what do I do?

The Startup path is not in the Registry; it is on your hard drive. The
default path is C:\Documents and Settings\<Profile Name>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Word\Startup. To find both Normal.dot (which by default will
be at C:\Documents and Settings\<Profile Name>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates) and the Startup folder, you must display Hidden
files and folders in Windows (Tools | Folder Options | View).

The Data key for Word 2003 is at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data.

Sorry the startup is Empty and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\office\9.0\word\there is no data (it is word 2000 not 2003)and hidden folders are shown. So I am stell no further.

I finally got it on my own using system mechanic to clean out my registry
and deleting office. I then reinstalled word and it worked.
