Word 2000 - Zoom feature

I changed, saved, and closed an existing document with a
new Zoom setting. When I reopened the document, the Zoom
setting that was used when the document was created was
still in effect. How can I have the document open with
the new Zoom setting?

You need to perform a real edit and force a requirement to save before the
new zoom setting will be remembered.

To elaborate on Terry's response, if you just open a document, change the
zoom, "save," and close, you haven't actually saved the document because
Word doesn't save it unless it has "changed," and environmental settings
aren't treated as changes. You have to change something that will enable the
Undo button. The usual technique (sometimes described as a "phantom edit")
is to press Spacebar, then Backspace, then save.
