Please help. This problem started today. When opening word, my computer
freezes every time. I never get Word opened and have to turn off the computer
torestart it. Please help. Is this a virus??
THANKS!!

The answer from Susan to look at a FAQ letter is not helpful. In that my
problem is simple. I click Word and the computer freezes. Nothing opens. It
freezes. It doesn't crash. It freezes the computer and it must be turned off
then started again. I have reinstalled word 2000 and proble is still their.
Please give idea of what the problem is and how to fix it? Is it a virus??

Did you even try looking at the suggested page? Despite the title, it
address more problems than just the one, and lists the standard
troubleshooting tips.

I completely fail to understand why someone who is having problems opening
Word would refuse to even look at an article about problems opening Word,
but I guess we can't help people who don't want to be helped. And I can only
assume that someone who reads "Suzanne" as "Susan" perhaps can't read the
article, either.

HELP!!- I actually read the article 3 times. I ran virus scans with Mcafee
and AVG 7.0 and no virus was found. I ran spyware and adaaware. I deleted
Word 2000 then put it back on. Sorry about the Susan, Suzanne. I have not had
this problem before, what happens is the computer freezes when I click Word
to open it. Nothing opens and I must shut down the computer before being able
to do anything on it.

You seem to be talking about an entirely different article from the one I
recommended. There's nothing in it about virus scans or reinstalling Word
(which almost never helps). What I'm not seeing is that you started Word
with the /a switch, renamed Normal.dot, changed printer drivers, or did any
of the other things suggested in the article.
