Word 2000 document does not open in Word 2003

Hi
We have a mixed environemt wher few people are using word 200 and rest are using word 2003. This had happened more than a couple of times recently that documents edited in Word 2000. Is this a known issue? How can we fix this? Any patch for Word 2000 or Word 2003?
