Word 2000 Dictionary

Where is it? I was directed to 'tools, research' by the Microsoft web site,
but I don't
have "research" under tools in the drop down.

Surely there must be a dictionary that actually defines words in Office
2000. I'm
not looking for just a thesaurus.

There is no dictionary in Word 2000 (unless you add one as an add-in), and
the Research task pane was added in Word 2003.

I think the old Encarta used to integrate directly into Word 2000. That, or
you'd have to get another third-party tool. I think some of the dictionary
companies (such as Merriam-Webster) might have some that can act as a Word
Addin. You might try asking in the word.spelling.grammar newsgroup.
