wont wakeup from standy mode

I am able to put my laptop in standby mode, but the wake up. The screen remains black and I'm forced to hold down the power button until it restarts. No one has changed any settings (that we know of). Any suggestions?

I'm having this same problem - just started out of the
blue, no changes to the computer, no new programs,
hardware or settings - at least none that I did or am
aware of. Can't seem to fix this and can't restore to a
previous point either.

Any suggestions...
