Recently (last 48 hours) my computer will not wake up from
sleep/hibernation. I have had Windows Vista Home Premium installed and
running since the day it was released, and I have honestly not had any
problems with it.
Previously, I was able to press the space bar, and the computer would power
up and run perfectly. Starting yesterday, pressing keys has no effect at
all. Pressing the power button on the tower also has no effect. I have to
physically unplug the CPU from the wall, wait a few seconds, plug it back
in, then press the power button and allow the computer to "resume Windows".
I have installed NO software or hardware, and I have made NO changes to the
system. My power configuration is "balanced".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

Have you tried yelling at it (really, really, really loud)?

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?

I have the same problem. But you probably don't have to unplug your
machine. Most power buttons on newer PCs are electronic and holding
them in for about 5 seconds should shut the machine down.

Good luck,

Actually you have to do this for the problem he described. For I had this
same problem and for a few days I could not figure out what was wrong. I
tried known working monitors from other pcs and one finally reported the pc
was in sleep mode. But even cold boots or anything would not solve it Finally
I found this topic and unplugged my pc for 10s. Plug it back in and start it
up. LO and BEHOLD it resumes windows FINALLY D: What a crock of you know
what. It is rediculous to have this borked feature start activated when you
install fresh... Oh well
