Won't delete sites from autosuggest

I've seen this problem around but haven't found a way to completely
fix it.

What happens is that three sites refuse to be deleted from my
autosuggest when typing in a webpage.

As I begin to type a webpage, these always come up. (For example, as
I type "www.c" then it suggests "www.cpuc.ca.gov". I've managed to
delete most (I had as many as 25 that wouldn't delete), but still
these remain (yes, one is a site I would rather not have anyone know
I've been too, but the others are normal sites).

These are the steps I have taken, so we don't repeat ourselves.

1. Gone to Tools>Intenet Options>Content>Autocomplete>Cleared

2. Gone to Tools>Internet Options>Clear History

3. Gone my registry and deleted Typed URLs

4. Run Ad-Aware

5. Run Norton Antivirus and Internet Security

6. Downloaded and used a purge program (PURGE IE) to purge visited
URLS (this worked to get rid of about 90% of them, but the three
remain)

7. Started in MS-DOS and deleted "index.dat" in Content.IE folder.
Folder size went from 2.6KB to 48B. "Find" in new dat file does not
show sites.

I have done all these steps REPEATEDLY over the last few weeks.
However, I still have a few sites that refuse to be deleted from
autosuggest.

Hi,
PurgeIE and deleting the index.dat file (if you deleted the right one)
should have covered this, but delete the History folder also. See the
instructions at http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

And... are you sure that these sites aren't in Favorites?

And... try CWShredder from http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html It
hasn't been updated for a while, but may find something that Ad-aware
missed. Also run Spybot - Search & Destroy from
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd

Hope this helps,
Don
