Hi, I am running Vista Home Premium and everything seems to have been fine
so far except that after using it for a couple of hours the desktop doesn't
work at all. I cannot click on anything and the task bar at the bottom goes
wonky with the icons all over the place. It works fine after a restart but
does anybody know what the problem is please. Many thanks.

I would ensure you are using updated drivers for your video card and
update BIOS per hardware vendor. This is unusal behavior so I am
assuming this is not an OEM machine logo'd for Vista but perhaps an
older machine with updated components.

You're right. I've just had a look at the reliability monitor, yes it takes
a sudden dip on 5th May which is when it started going wonky. I will have a
check on what I have installed etc and perhaps I can sort it. Many, many
thanks for your assistance.

Thanks Dave, but it is a new machine with OEM Vista. I will try what Nizan
suggests and get back to the group.

I've my my new comp and vista for only a couple of days and the same thing
happens to me. When you move the curser over the desktop, everything goes all
over the place and you can not go into the Task Manager because it just goes
wonky too. Just have to restart which can be very annoying. Will try the
method suggested by Nizan and see what could be causing it

What does the following mean?

avgcc.exe stopped working and
OS stopped working.

They seem to have occurred after installing iTunes and Quicktime
