Owing to my previous post of only having 13 GB left and not knowing what has
taken up the other 27GB I was wondering whether I should run the Recovery
Disc again and start all over again?

I'm having the same problem. Before I ran the recovery disc, I have 35 gigs, the other 70 gigs was being used by all my movies/music/pictures. After running the recovery, It still says I have only 35 gigs, my movies/music/pictures nowhere to be found. Are they still there somehow? I can't find them, how can I completely remove them and get my disk space back, or be able to find them? Someone please help me.

Hi

From a command type the following - assuming you have some MP3 files on your
system:

cd\ <Enter>
dir *.mp3 /a/s <Enter>

Do any files 'turn up'?

Hi Will
Any idea as to what I should be looking for? My friend who has the same
laptop and progs on it as me as only used 5.2GB compared to my showing of
23.5GB.

Hi Lynn

I don't have a Laptop. What are you looking for? From a command prompt
type:

cd\ <Enter>
dir /a/s/ <Enter>

What does the last line report?

Total Files 30936 Files 4,832,59,540
4963 Dirs 14,658,433,024 bytes free
I'm trying to find out what is using up all my hard drive (23GB) when I
reckon it should be around 5GB

Lynn - you have about 14 Gbs free space available. Where is 5 Gb coming
from?

Hi Will
I have only had this laptop since Christmas. I have less
progs etc on it than I have on my Desktop PC which is
showing 4GB. I estimate that I have no more than 5GB on it
as my friend has exactly the same model laptop, OS and
progs on hers and that is what hers is showing. No way I
have used 23GB!! Just don't know what is where, if yous
ee what I mean. 9 days after having my laptop I had been
using System Restore a lot after having problems and one
time I didn't 'Restore' which is why I had to use the
Recovery Disc sent with my Toshiba laptop. That is the
only thing different with my situation and my friends so I
am wondering if that has anything to do with it. Need to
release up my Hard Drive also I'm worried as to what is on
there anyway.

I did as you told me, and it showed all the mp3s I currently have on it, but none of the ones I had before... so what's eating up all my space?
