I have been editing a long document for several days. The last time I tried
to open it Word said that it wass unable to do so. Suggested that another
user might have it open, that there might be no more memory available, or I
had entered the file name incorrectly. I have plenty of memory, the call on
the document was made by clicking on the directory name for it. and my
computer is stand-alone and I am its only user.
The problem is not corrected by copying the file to another drive,
changing the name of the file, or any other straategem I have tried. The
automatic save file I assume no longer exists after the document is saved by
closing.
Any suggestions? I would hate to lose the work I have put in.

Hi Jim:
depending on which version of Office you are on, you could try the 'open and
repair' feature. You have to open Word first, then navigate to your file.
click on your file once to highlight it. Then you will click the drop down
arrow next to Open and choose 'open and repair'.
You could also clean out any temporary files on your pc.
