That's a known issue that is affecting some who installed IE8.
One workaround is to uninstall IE8, which reverts you back to IE7.

Instead of uninstalling IE8, another option is to upgrade
your email program to Windows Live Mail: http://download.live.com/wlmail
Is it possible that your Windows Media Player is not set as default for WMV

Start > Default Programs > Associate file type or protocol with a program >
scroll down to WMV. Look across to the right. Is Windows Media Player it's
Current Default ?
If not, click Change Program, select Windows Media Player > OK
