WMP plays videos funny

Ever since I got this OS whenever I play videos in WMP
everything looks wierd and purple and does not show up
correctly. I have tried downloading all the updates but
nothing is helping.

what sort of video ?
i had the same problem untill i updated divx codecs
also try turning video overlay on
 
Turning on the video overlay did not help as it was
already on. I also can not find the codec to download.
 
I downloaded a codec and it did not help. I also tried
the turning on the overlay but it was already on.
 
The only way I can get video to work is to go on Kazaa
play the video then stop it. Then open WMP and play the
video and that will only work tell I close the K-Lite.
