WMP no device detected CD RW

Hello All,
Please help me if you could. pleaseeee
I bought a compaq presario 2700, window XP and all. I
used to write my audio/wave format music using windows
media player. Lately, after upgrading to Windows Media
Player 9 series, whenever I click on the "copy to CD or
device" tab, it say that "No device detected".
Any idea why my window media player couldn't detected my
CD-RW.

WMP doesn't update the CD burning software on the system - that should be
unchaned. So this should be something else-
