I've been using Windows Media Player 9 (WMP-9) since purchasing
this (WindowsXP) system seven months ago ... primarily to play
video clips (*.mpg, *.wmv, etc.). I like the features,
although it does occasionally crash (freeze).
Until a recent crash, when a video clip was playing, the total
length (time duration) of the clip displayed in the bottom right
corner of the player window ... immediately above the clip time
duration counter. Now this does *NOT* display; although I think
I've experimented with all the menu "view" options, I have been
unable to get the "total time duration of clip" display to return.
Everything else seems to work fine. While this is not a catastrophic
failure, it *is* IRRITATING (since I often found the total clip
time useful as a "quick look" parameter.
Guys, most likely there *is* a toggle (somewhere) to turn the
missing feature on-and-off; however, if so, I haven't been
able to find the doggone thing. Arghhh!!!
If no such toggle exists, then perhaps one of the WMP files got
corrupted in the crash. If that is the case, perhaps a fresh
download of WMP-9 would overwrite/restore the file(s)? Or is
it necessary to first *uninstall* WMP-9 and then download and
do a fresh install?
Any help that anyone can provide will be much appreciated. Many
of you can probably appreciate the feeling of frustration when
facing a (seemingly) intransigent computing anomaly (even it's a
non-catastrophic one).
