I have installed SP2 on XP Pro (media Center) and am now trying to set up a
home network.

I got to the point were I could see my XP Home laptop and navigate through
all shared folders but my Laptopn cannot access the Desktop. My thoughts are
that it may be Firewall related but I cannot even start the Firewall.

I checked out the dependant services and see nothiing - reason being is that
I do not have WMI running. When I try to start WMI I get an Error 126 - not
found.

Am I barking up the worng tree here or am I missing a windows piece since SP2?

Carey - the link did no work for me - is this the post about going to a
system restore point?

I installed SP2 quite some time back - to uninstall this would cause me to
lose data - is there any other method?

Have same problem. Reinstalled XP Home plus upgrade to Pro, and all
okay...then installed wireless network connection at work...okay...now back
at home trying to install connection to home wireless network and again I
have WMI corrupted. What now?
