Dear All,

we use a x86 Pc computer with 1/4 VGA Display and XP embedded as OS. For
network we want to use a WLan device.

My question, is there a way to configure the WLan about an API, so that we
can connect to network with our own application?

Any suggestions

Thanks in advance

Yannic

Yanic,

I guess you would need an utility or control panel applet from your WLAN card manufacturer to setup wireless parameters and
settings.

Or, you can try configure its settings once (on working XPe image or XP Pro machine) and copy the related registry entries (you will
have to find them out with Regmon/RegSnap/Inctrl5 tools) in to the run time.

XPe SP2 will allow you to use the Wirelss Provisioning Service (WPS) API to
configure wireless. The documentation will include a "How to Configure
Wireless Settings."

Brett,

Promising info. Thanks!
Although I don't see the component on the 0807 build. Is it in RC?
I only saw "Network Provisioning Service". This is pretty interesting new stuff in SP2 which also seems to allow to provision
Wireless settings (SSID, etc.).

I must probably move to the next recent build to be up to date.

Forgot to mention, btw, that I found this odd that the "Network Provisioning Service" component is under "Software : System :
Networking & Communications" category (not under Applications or Infrastructure). According to the XPE Catalog structure "style",
you usually put only Macro components there.
