I don't know why. But when it does, it takes me a while to figure out
that's what happened, restart it, and reconect to the network. Today
when it happened, I had to reboot. The service restarted just fine.
But I still couldn't connect to the network.

Not really. I get no error messages at all other than View Available
Networks complaining that the service isn't running. Linksys did
install its own manager, but I disabled it.

I know for certain that is other WLAN adapter manufacturer's wireless
network configuration manager software do get a shortcut installed
into the "Startup" folder. Once these softwares start up, the WZC
service gets turned off, even though the service is set to
automatically start.

You may need ti set the Linksys Management console service to "manual"
and re-start WZC service.

Just a thought since the generica is not working for you ...
Why not do it the way it is intended by the Hardware
manufacturer? /Id est/ to use their supplied software specially
crafted for that hardware for use under that OS-version, (and
instead disable the generic WZC that is bundled with the OS)?

There isn't a service listed under Linksys.

I have a Linksys USB wireless adapter and it installs the following
service:

"C:\Program Files\Linksys\WUSB300N\WLService.exe" "WUSB300N.exe"

Not sure if it is the same across the entire line of wireless adapters.

Because Linksys's software can't repair a connection. The Windows
system can attempt that.

But where is it listed in the Windows Services Snap-in? That would be
the only way to control a true service.

Oh, ok. So if you can fix the stopping problem, ms WZC tools have
one up on the Linksys counterparts. I's just curious and wondered
since i have only used D-Links wireless cards and the ANIWZCS
(Alpha Networks Inc. Windows Zero Configuration Service) they use
have worked fine for me so i've used that instead of the ms one.
