Hi'

I'm missing the WPA authentication setting/method (and TKIP data encryption)
when adding a new wireless network.

I have downloaded and tried to run the 'QFE 815485' (Windows XP Support
Patch for Wi-Fi Protected Access), but this only works under SP1.
The QFE 815485 is not included in the bug-fix list for SP2.

What am I missing ?.

Any good ideas ?.

Thanks,

Henrik.

It's included in SP2. Just make sure your WLAN card driver is updated and
that it supports WPA..

You can use WPA in XPe SP2 only if you have the hardware and drivers in your
device that supports it.

See this link for drivers that will enable WPA support for Lucent based 801b
minipci cards as well as Lucent based 801b PCMCIA cards such as Toshiba,
Buffalo, D-Link Air DWL-660, IBM High Rate, ORiNOCO and
Samsung -http://www.agere.com/mobility/wireless_lan_drivers.html

If you are still stuck, for what its worth . . .

In researching WPA setup for an M(icrosoft)N700 Access Point, I came
across a bug report that Microsoft 802.11g client adapters would fail
to connect with WPA enabled if the SSID exceeded 20 characters. Unclear
if that was a hardware or XP WPA software constraint.

WPA is also missing from my new Emachines laptop. Hardware is Broadcom
BCM94306. Drivers claim to support WPA but it's not available in SP2. Tried
reinstalling drivers to no avail.

HELP!!!!!

neptunepic,

Do you have XP Embedded image installed and running on your laptop?
