Wireless to wired

Hello, I've been using the internet through a wireless router in my house for
a while now, however i've put the router in my room so I want to access the
internet through the ethernet port on said router. When I enable all the
ethernet side and disable the wireless side I loose my internet connection
and nothing can detect it at all. What do I need to change to get the net
working through the ethernet side?

What brand and model of router?

There should be no need to enable/disable wired or wireless - both should
work at the same time.

Yep both should, bit of a weird one Ben. You aren't using a crossover cable
in to your router by any chance are you? Make sure its a standard cat 5 rj45
cable. And when you connect it do the green lights come on to show its
connected? Also make sure (presuming it isnt this but you never know) that
your ethernet port is enabled - i only ask because you seem to feel the need
to disable your wireless when using the cable, logic would say you may have
disabled your local ethernet when using wireless?

Anyway thats the best i can think of from the top of my head
