wireless problem

Help! I have a new wireless ready laptop. the problem is
that no wireless icon appears in my connections and even
though the router is functioning perfectly (friends
laptops work fine here) i still have no internet. Does
anyone know what i should do??
 
Try running internet connection wizard, or possibly add new network wizard and set up a new wireless network connection. Also make sure that your wireless network TCP/IP settings on your computer are the same as those on your friend's computer(if he/she is able to get on the internet).

That would be just a start, but it could be more. Let us know.
 
thanks for responding! I have actually tried your
suggestion but can never find anything that gives me
wireless as an option. i'm so frustrated!
