Wireless/optical Mouse

Hi guys

I have got a wireless, optical mouse and when ever i turn
off the computer the light which comes out of the bottom
of the mouse stays on.

Is this normal? I would have thought the light would turn
off to save battery power.

This is a "feature" of the Microsoft family of wireless
keyboards and mouses. They need to keep telling the computer
they're alive even when the computer is turned off.
Apparently someone in MS's engineering department thinks
many batteries are cheaper than a 50 cent switch.

If your computer is off for long periods of time, it pays to
remove one each of the batteries from the belly of the mouse
and whatever of the keyboard.
