New system, not an upgrade. Win XP pro (SP1 not 1a) on
system with Asus A7V8X motherboard and AMD Athlon XP2500+
CPU. 802.11g PCI wireless card for which I don't have any
docs (so can't go check HCL). Device manager network
devices lists only "VIA compatable FastE adaptor" with X
through it. (Ethernet on motherboard disabled maybe?) More
importantly, the wireless card is not listed. I've
physically removed the card and put it back, even changed
PCI slots. XP refuses to recognize the card is there. Any
advise? TIA! /Evelyn

Hi Evelyn,

In Device Manager, do you have any item that says Other devices (the one
with a question mark icon)? If you have it and your wireless card is listed
under there with some generic name, it is very likely that Windows XP does
not have the device driver for your wireless card. You will have to go to
the manufacturer's website to download the driver. To install the driver,
right click on the wireless card and then select Update Driver. Hope it
helps.
