Yes, that's all the equipment you need, provided that the Windows 98
computer has a wired Ethernet adapter.

Get a wireless router, put it in the same room as the Windows 98
computer, and connect it to the computer using an Ethernet cable.
It's hard to find wireless network cards that work with Windows 98, so
a wired connection to the router is better.

Connect a wireless USB card to the Windows XP computer in the other
room.

In brands that are widely available in the USA, I've had good luck,
over many years, with Netgear, D-Link, and Belkin. I've had so many
problems with Linksys that I won't buy or recommend it.

I'm testing a new (to me) brand called ZyXEL, which is available at
CompUSA stores. The ZyXEL wireless router worked perfectly right out
of the box. The ZyXEL USB card installed easily and is working fine
on XP and Windows 98 Second Edition. I had some problems installing
it on original Windows 98, but it's now installed and working fine.

The ZyXEL card is the best way I know of to get WPA encryption
capability, using the provided Funk Odyssey Client software, on
Windows 98 and Me.

I have used a Linksys WRT54G wireless router for about 2 year now and it
hasn't failed me yet. I've had minor problems here and there but was easily
fixed with a firmware upgrade.
