Michael

I have 2 portable computers, running XP Pro and 98SE
respectively. I would like to share the files between
these 2 computers (i.e. build a home network). I am using
Buffalo Wireless Rounter (Model: Airstation WBR-B11).

Now, I can browser the web through the said rounter, but
I don't know how to configure my computers for file
sharing. Please teach me how to setup a home network so
that I can share the files between 2 computers through
the (wireless) rounter.

Thank you very much for your kind help!

Your first port of call should be to read "help" on Networking,
especially the articles on sharing files, printers, and other resources.
Has the information you seek.

Lots of material is published on the web, including
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/

Also, there are lots of books, specific to this topic, or chapters in
books on things like "Windows XP". Browse at your local bookstore on on
Amazon.

I have surfed the web page
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/ and the "help" menu.

I know how to configure it when using wire connection. But
in case of wireless LAN setting, the computers cannot
recognize each others. I can ping one computer from
another in the command prompt.

Now, my Buffalo rounter acts as a server (192.168.0.1).
And the private IP for my computers are 192.168.0.11 and
192.168.0.12 respectively.

My question is how to connect these 2 computers for file
sharing. Is it a problem caused from different OS? or it
is because of wireless LAN connection. Can I build a
network through a (Wireless) rounter?

If you can ping, then you've achieved the network connection. Now you
have to setup the Network Shares for sharing.

Using the Network Setup Wizard would be a great first step, and also
take note of the "Sharing and Security" option when you right mouse
click on a file folder in Explorer ...

The settings for wireless file sharing are the same as for a wired network.
