I have an HP Pavillion 774e desktop that I have just added
to my LAN. I have three other computers in the house on
my 802.11b wireless system. I put a D-Link dwl-520 PCI
wireless net adapter in the desktop. After the setup, it
showed that I had almost a full signal, but ipconfig
showed it wasn't picking up an ip from the DHCP. In my
network connections, it shows, my new wireless nic, the
original nic that was already in, and "1394 connection."
After many hours windows falsly saying I was connected
figured out that if I disabled/re-inabled the "1394
connection"...then disabled/re-inabled the wireless card,
my internet would pop in Net Connections, and everything
is fine. But, every restart, I have to repeat the
disable/re-enbale process. I know it's complicated, but
any suggestions? Thanks, KC
