Hi,
I experience the almost the samething as Stan (the
nightmare part), but I wouldn't break any Microsoft or
anything though
here is my situation. I will try to describe as clear as
possible.
What Do I Have:
Linksys router, Linksys wireless card, cable modem, pc
with w2k pro and laptop inspiron 5100 with XP Home.
Situation:
things checked and h/w work fine including the Cat5
cables. connection lay out: Cable modem connected to
router. Router with a Cat5 connected to PC. up to this
point going to internet on the pc has no problem.
Now, connecting the laptop with a Cat5 cable to the
router, going internet has no problem.
Here is the problem: wireless on the laptop, can NOT go
out to internet.
checked ip address:
with dhcp, ipconfig /all show the 169.x.x.x ip address
when static, ipconfig /all show the static address but no
default gateway (it is just empty, no numbers
Had same problem with Netgear router and netgear wireless
card. First I thought it was netgear, then i changed to
Linksys and still have problem.
other things done:
Called Netgear, Linksys and Dell, no help. I am HOPING
you could help me...
* last thing: tried to uninstall/install TCP/IP but it is
grayed out. why?
Thanks,
Sentosa
