Wireless Network Connection Problems

Using XPpro, I find it very difficult to get a wireless network connection
established, since the 'Use Windows to configure my wireless network
settings' box unchecks itself very frequently and thus interrupts any
connection I may have had.

How can I ensure that this box remains checked throughout a session?

That setting remains. If this is not the case, a third-party WLAN
configuration tool may try to regain control. If that tool shows up in
the notification area, disable the start in its options. Otherwise, use
Start > Run: MSCONFIG > Autostart tab.
