Does anyone know how to make the wireless connection the default internet
explorer connection when you are using both a wired and a wireless. The wired
is our company network and the wireless is a test network. we would rather
not have to take the laptop off the wired network.

If you want to use wireless connection as the default internet access, you should assign the default gateway to it while keeping the blank default gateway on the wired. or post the result of ipconfig /all.

First, a word of warning: If you are attempting to gain Internet access
behind the backs of your corporate IT dept, you are headed for trouble.
Most IT policies will strictly forbid unauthorised internet connections, as
these will bypass the company firewall and leave an unsecured backdoor into
the complay network. In our company, you'd be fired for that.

To answer the technical question...

You'd need to either:

-remove the default gateway from the wired connection, leaving the only
default gateway pointing at the wireless router;

or

Change the route metric on the wireless default gateway to a lower value
than the wired one.

Both of these will loose you connectivity with any remote subnets on your
wired LAN. You'd need to add static routes to those, if there are any.

Thanks for the replies, I work for the IT department in our company and we
have a wireless access point setup to access the internet through out own
networkj but one that is reouted through a firewall that is not at locked
down as our main one is so we can test VPN connections, without getting a DSL
line added. We just don't want to have to disconnect the wired connection
everytime we need to test since most of our applications are always one while
here. I'll test your ideas and see what works. Thanks
