Wireless LAN problems

I have recently tried setting up a Wireless LAN network
between a laptop running Windows ME and a desktop running
Windows XP. The network cards I am using are both US
Robotics 802.11g. I have managed to achieve file and
folder sharing on both computers so am happy that the
connection has worked but have come across the following
2 issues:

1) My computer running Windows XP will randomly shut down
with the blue screen error message 'IRQL not less than or
equal'. Although this sounds like a device conflict,
having looked in system information the IRQ setting of 19
for the network card does not appear to be used by
anything else. Although when I disable the network card
in device manager the computer runs fine with no random
shutdown.

2) The PC running Windows XP has an ADSL modem connected
to it via USB. I have set this up for internet connection
sharing in order that the computer running Windows ME can
use this internet connection. When I go into Internet
Explorer on the laptop the internet connection appears to
connect ok over the network but when trying to browse to
various websites the webpage never shows up. Despite the
status bar showing 'Web site found waiting for reply' the
blue bar moves slowly then eventually times out.

Any assistance on the above 2 issues would be highly
appreciated.

try downloading a new driver for the wireless cards at
the manufacturer's website.

I tried that and managed to find a more up to date
driver. I thought this had resolved the problem when my
computer hadn't shutdown for a few hours, and then all of
a sudden it shut down again.

From experience i can tell you the XP operating system is buggy , networking is just too much for this useless operating system .

If you have a particular problem, please post it.

I am getting the same problem with a Netgear MA521
wireless NIC - error as below:

"A problem has been detected and winows has been shut down
to prevent damage to your computer.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error
screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears
again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is
properly installed. If this is a new installation, as
your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows
updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly
installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory
options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use
safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your
computer, press F8 etc etc etc...

I have contact both Netgear and Dell regarding this
problem and both have suggested latest driver, BIOS
updates etc etc but nothing seems to work. Any news or
solutions would be greatly accepted.
