Wireless: How do I choose which access point to connect to?

Hi,
I am working at a corporate network, where there are more access points
used. In my room, there is a "B"-type access point available, and a "G" type
with very poor reception. Both have the same SSID, the network is open and
public. Now, the WZC always tries to connect to the "G" access point, where
the negotiation with the DHCP server mostly fails (because of the poor
reception). I tried even 3rd programs, but I didn't find anything that could
set the preferred access point to be used.
I greately appreciate any help

Hi

WinXP WZC has a menu in which you can specify only one preferred connection.

If it does not work it might be that your hardware is not totally compatible with WZC.
In such a case try to switch off the WCZ service and use the software utility that came
with the Wireless client card to establish a preferred connection. If the utility does
not have this capacity your are out of luck and might need to resolve the issue through
hardware upgrades.

Rename one of the wireless devices' SSIDs and you will be able to select a
preferred network. Alternatively you could lock your wireless NIC into "B"
only mode and it won't see a "G" network.
