Wireless HELP

I'm quite new to wireless & I have this question. we have just brought a wireless ADSL modem router, now it seems to suggest that you need to connect it to at least one computer wired. But what i want to know is is it possible for the other computers to use the net without the wired computer thats connected to the router/adsl modem, being on?

need all the help i can get

you only need to hard wire a a machine to the router to setup it up, once the wireless side of things are setup you can remove the wired pc and manage from a machine with a wireless connection.
