Can anyone help me with this problem that I am having...I was given a
wireless router for Christmas as I got a new laptop.I seem to have the
router and computer connected but does not go through to my ntl broadband
server box.does anyone know what I am missing or doing wrong .thank you
Kathy

You need to:

1) Connecy the mtl broadband box to the router's WAN port
2) Connect a "wired" network cable to the wireless router.
3) Using the built-in Web pages of the router (over the wired network
connection), configure the ntl broadband service
4) Configure and start the wireless router "wireless" service.
5) Disconnect the wired network connection
6) Configur the laptop's wireless network configuration (with the
configuration you did is step 4.)

Thank-you for your help lol but it all sounds to complicated for me,i will
have to get someone to fix it for me,as i am fairly new using the
computer..i will keep your advice to show whoever does it

I too am new to networking. Couldn't get mine to work until I manually
assigned an IP range and subnet mask in my Zone Alarm firewall.
Also after watching a recent TV programme showing how easy it is to break
into a home wireless have looked again at my security.
Two of their main recommendations are:
1. Use WPA encryption on the router, the WEP I had been using it seems can
be easily broken.
2. Use MAC filtering on the router, haven't got round to this yet because
I'm still trying to sort another wireless problem, see post above. Also I
am trying to set up a print server so that I can print directly from the
laptop without switching on main PC.
