Wireless connection not changing gateway address

I have a laptop that uses the wireless lan adapter. When I go from work
to home, I can connect fine to my network and internet. When I go back
to work, I can see the work network but not the web. The default
gateway doesn't get changed until I issue an ipconfig /renew. Then I
can get web access again. Is this a laptop issue or a network issue?

Thanks

Agreed with Jack. Best thing to do is to setup two sets of IP addresses for
your laptop. Also you can try removing the IP protocol from your network
configuration and reinstalling it. I have seen IP protocol keeping incorrect
information after receiving new configuration information.

Hi
It is probably a Network's IP cleaning / assigning.

If you have Win XP you can set two Network configurations and use each one as needed.

Jack (MVP-Networking).
When I go from my home to another place beside work, it finds everything
properly. I suppose it could be because both the other remote places are
probably setup with the standard default wireless settings.

try this,,

goto the DOS prompt and type :

ARP -a

this will show you the dynamically assigned gateways

if the gateway is wrong do this:

ARP -d

this will erase all the gateways and then get the new gateway

it works,
