My wireless connection (802.11g/b) keeps dropping when i
surf the web because Windows XP Home keeps finding new
available wireless connections in my building. After i
connect to my Base Station and start surfing, after a
while i get a dialog bubble from my system tray saying
that there are more than one wireless connections
available. How can i prevent this from happenning??!!

Hi Dano,

In Wireless Network Connection Properties you have section called "Preferred
networks". Remove all connections, except for the one you are using. Then
click Advanced, and unselect "Automatically connect to non-preferred
networks".

Hi Sebastjan . . .

This doesn't work. I've tried this (and virtually
everything else) and my wireless keeps dropping, and not
refinding my only preferred choice without my
intervention. It's becoming extremely frustrating. I'm
beginning to think that this might be a recent XP bug.

Any other thoughts?

Cheers,
Mike

I'm thinking so too, as there have been quite a few unanswered WiFi/HP
queries here lately.

Are you using WPA? If so, try WEP for a day or so to see if the
problem goes away.

have you turned off broadcast of the SSID? this could cause the
behavior. are you using WEP or WPA?
