Wireless configurations tab does not display when installing usb adapter

I have just bought a Zyxel B-220 USB wireless adapter but when installing it
conflicts seem to arise between the software that comes with the adapter and
windows automatic wireless configuration. The wireless configuration tab
under properties for the wireless lan connection simply does not display.
When wanting to see the available networks the windows that pops up is gray
and none of the buttons can be selected...

Does anyone know what is worng? Perhaps how to fix it??
