Hello, I recently installed Windows XP Professional x64, in addition to the
Windows XP Home I already have. x64 seems to have overwritten my internet
explorer completely, and now I can't run IE when im in XPHome.

Thanks

I know that already. What I want to know is how to solve my problem.

Simply boot from the WinXP Home installation CD. You'll be offered
the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear: Win XP Home has been installed for quite some
time. Meaning it's not a fresh install. It's not like I can just format
things. I have lots of data I can't lose on the XP Home installation.
Everything else is normal, the problem is that Win64 replaced the IE files
from Win XP Home with the ones in XP64. Which wouldn't be so bad, but the LAN
drivers aren't compatible with windows 64, so I can't access my LAN from
XP64, so I can't use the internet.

Thanks again.

I understood the situation. But the _only_ way that you'll be able to
fix it, as you've installed both operating systems into the same
partition, is to back up your data, format the hard drive, and start anew.

I fixed it by deleting the .dll and iexplore.exe in the Internet Explorer
folder. A few seconds after I hit the Delete key, they reappeared, but this
time the iexplore.exe icon showed up, and I can use it now. No formatting,
partitioning, etc. Took a total of 15 seconds.

You've cleared up one minor symptom. You've "fixed" nothing.

Under normal circumstances, placing two operating systems in the same
partition is a recipe for disaster. A careful, knowledgeable specialist
can do this safely, for a short time, but the ordinary PC user had
better be backing up his data daily, as a catastrophic failure is a
matter of "when," rather than "if."

Hello,
There are a large number of files that are now mismatched on your system.
Your system is in a really bad state.
There is not an easy solution for this, the best solution is really to back
up all your data files and reinstall.
