Anyone know if Microsoft plans to replace Windows XP with a new CD that
includes all updates and fixes?

Not that Im aware of other than VISTA. There is rumored speculation though
that there may be a SP3 coming out in 2007 which would replace the previous
two service packs for XP but I wouldn't hold my breath. I think this is what
your asking for:
This setup combines the contents of Service Pack 2 with your WinXP CD
contents to create an updated installation CD. This way you can install XP
and SP2 both in one go with a single CD....Microsoft doesn't continually
recreate boot cds as they pump out many patches and security updates and
general fixes. That would be costly. So we do this instead:

Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows: Slipstreaming Windows XP with Service
Pack 2 (SP2)

Jack;
Do you mean Microsoft making an updated Windows XP CD available for current
users with older Windows XP CDs.?
AFAIK, that has not happened in the past and is not likely to happen with
Windows XP.

sorry stu all i could see was you "dark moon is all dark " messages, i
thought you were sending randomness. maybe pull your post out of > marks from
previous message? Although Im probably the only dumv one who failed to see...

There are xp 3 updates available in the download pages but beware , they are beta and not proven. Stay safe with XP2 until its commonly known XP3 is safe, and it will be a new rom as a fellow earlier said

No but they do provide lots of very detailed help files telling you
how to incorporate all the updates into one self installing file and
even combine them all with an Windows CD.

Don't even think about it, for hard core hackers only, you will end up
in the funny farm if you try to read beyond paragraph 3 much less
attempt to follow the guide..

This however will work without needing a degree in computer science.

What is "XP3"?
If you mean Windows XP SP-3, there is no such thing, Beta or otherwise.

Also there are a LOT more than 3 updates, at least for Windows XP.

I didn't make it past line 1 before I got all crazy;

"The new site is under construction"

very funny, hard core funny and they offer links to "torrents". bung. Youd
have more luck asking a "3rd world" desolate to toss you a bag of rice.

Go to:

http://www.msfn.org/
http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/

for info on how to create your own custom updated install CD. I recommend
using nLite to do this in a semi-automated fashion. To get a list of the
updates on your system open 'Add/Remove Programs' in control panel and
check 'Show Updates' or go to the Microsoft update site and view your
update history.
