Dear members,

I experience following problem on my Foxconn p4m800p7mb, 2 memory
slots,
on with 1Gb, other 512 MB.

WinXp sees this as 1G. winxp clients like CPU-z and sandra see this as
1.5 GB.

Any solution urgently appreciated.

Where in Windows does it show 1 gB? In the System Information tool? In the
General tab of the System applet in Control Panel? In the Performance tab of
Task Manager?

Do you have a video card that shares memory with the RAM (unlikely that it
shares 512 mB tho')

Is your Windows installation fully updated? Do you have SP2?

Yes.

In windows desktop with right click on computer icon.

And while booting, memory test shows 1024 MB memory..

Video card, nVidia GeForce, has its own memory, 256 MB.
I dont think this is the problem.

Yes. Fully updated. & XP Pro SP2. My computer has zero remaining
updates at windowsupdate.

Following question: My mainboard seems to a newer one.
Can Vista perhaps solve this problem?

Thanks, best regards,
HT

If only 1 gb is showing in boot count, you have compatibility issues or
the BIOS could be set wrong, depending on option available. In isn't an
XP issue.

Thanks, Bob,

I posted few more details on microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware group.

Which BIOS settings should be changed in order my computer to run
smoothly with 1.5 GB.

Best regards,
HT

That would depend entirely on the BIOS options available to you. If you
don't see anything in your's then it will be a case of the system
automatically handling it. Otherwise you don't have compatible memory.

I consulted another computer specialist.

He said taht bios upgrade might probably be solution.

My bios is dated 20060516.

Any thoughts?

Best regards,
HT
