Trevor

Not sure if anyone can help, but if you're reading this,
thanks for taking the time...

I have a 120 Gig harddrive which is maxed out, so I bought
an additional 160 Gig harddrive. My ultimate goal is use
the 120 harddrive for the operating system and program
files and use the 160 as a data storage area (mostly
mutlimedia stuff). I've also "Played around with" so many
"don't touch" settings on my computer that I need to wipe
the operating system and start with a fresh install.

So, as a backup, i duplicated my 120 drive onto my 160.
Now I started the install process and had everything was
fine... entered the prod id, told it to wipe the partition
on the 120 drive and create a new one, and started the
install to it, then it asked me to verify that i was able
to use an 'upgrade' CD by putting one of the older
operating system cds into my cdrom drive for verification.
UGH! I've been on win xp for at least 2 years now... i
didn't save my old win98 CD, i threw it out about 1 year
ago. Now what the *#(*@& (hell) do i do?

My entire system is replicated on the 160 drive (as D:).
Can i use this any how to get past this step successfully?

Thanks to anyone who gives this one a shot. :-)

You cannot install from an 'upgrade' version unless you have a legitimate
prior version. You screwed yourself when you tossed the Win98 CD.

Only possibility is to buy a full version.

Trevor;
I suggest you return the upgrade to the retailer or directly to
Microsoft since you are unable to use it since you threw out what you
needed.
Then buy the full version.
