winXP OEM licensing question

Does the winXP OEM license allow a user to install the
same license on his/her laptop computer, just as long as
they are not using both at the same time? My manager wants
to install winXP on his laptop for when he goes out of the
office.

Or do I need a different license for this?

Thanks

Wayne

Wayne;
Windows XP as with all other consumer Microsoft operating systems is
one license, one computer, the way it has always been.
If he also wants Windows XP on the laptop, he needs to buy a second
license.
It does not matter if it is retail or OEM, used in home or business,
networked or not.
Read the EULA for details.
Start/Run
Type "winver" ENTER
Click "End-User...".

You need a second license for the laptop.

The dual install privilege applies only to the *retail* versions of
Microsoft Office. It does not apply to any version of Windows since
3.0 or to the OEM or Educational versions of Microsoft Office.

Good luck

Yes I got confused with the Office application...thanks
for pointing that out.
No problem. It happens all the time, and is quite understandable
given the similarity of the product names.
