Karl

I cannot find a site for MSN, so I hope someone here has MSN.

A friend of mine has MSN and wants to use Outlook Express.

In his Mail for POP3 he has for Incoming mail:

mail.msn.com

For Outgoing mail he has:
smtp.msn.com

But it does not work. Anyone willing to help who has MSN?

Karl,

I think you might want to try these setting...

____________

1. In Outlook Express, click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.
2. Click the Mail tab, and then double-click your MSN Internet Account in
the list (it should be called MSN Mail).

3. On the General tab under Mail Account, your account should be named MSN
Mail.

4. Under User Information:

* The Name field should contain your MSN Subscriber ID (the name you use to
sign in to MSN).

* The E-mail address field should contain your MSN e-mail address, in the
format (e-mail address removed).

* The Reply address field should contain the same information as the E-mail
address field.

* Note: Do not click OK until you have finished checking all of the tabs.

1. Click the Servers tab. Under Server Information:

* The My incoming mail server is a __ server box should read POP3.

* The Incoming mail (POP3) field should read pop3.email.msn.com.

* The Outgoing mail (SMTP) field should read smtp.email.msn.com.

* If you use MSN HighSpeed - DSL, the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field should read
secure.smtp.email.msn.com.

* If you use a local area network, the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field should
read secure.smtp.email.msn.com.

1. Under Incoming Mail Server:

* The Account name field should contain your MSN Subscriber ID (the name you
use to sign in to MSN).

* The Password field should contain your MSN Internet Access password.

1. Make sure the Log on using Secure Password Authentication check box is
selected.

2. Click the Connection tab.

* Make sure the Always connect to this account using check box is selected.

* Make sure your MSN Internet Access account is selected in the list box.

1. Click OK, and then click Close.

2. Click the Send/Recv button.

Hi - I don't believe MSN supports POP anymore; it's HTTP. Check with their
support.

POP3 is still around for "legacy" MSN subscribers. Installing MSN8 will
convert the account to HTTP and there's no going back, even for them.

To get MSN POP mail, you can use

for user name line [msn/username]
password as you have set.

to send mail [secure.smtp.email.msn.com] just everything
between the brackets.

you can only get to their pop server using MSN Explorer, as
far as I know.

To get your POP MSN mail you can setup a Hotmail account and
use the Hotmail web to set your MSN mail to be picked up by
Hotmail. I'm not sure if Outlook Express will get that or
if you have to go to the web each time.

You might try [secure.pop.email.msn.com]

Does anyone know how to set incoming and outgoing mail up in HTTP?
