hello all,
my girlfriend wanted to reinstall WinXP on her laptop that is already 4
years old. The problem is that the CDrom can't read any CDs anymore, it is
dead...
Now I tought about installing it over network but I don't know how.
Did anyone of you already experienced such an installation and could give me
some advices or a site with a nice tutorial ?

Thx
Jack

Hello Jack,

Your best bet would be to get the CD-ROM drive repaired and then install Windows XP. Installing
Windows XP over a network needs a complicated setup including Remote Installation Servers (RIS) and
expertise. Also, since your laptop is pretty old, I doubt if the network card will support booting
up from the network.

Any PC must have a working CDrom drive.
