WINXP Home restarts instead of shutting down???

My computer restarts when trying to shut down this only started when i got my
DSL service thru SBC. When i disconnect the ethernet cable it shuts down
normaly. How can i make it shut down correctly without disconnecting or
disableing the connection in device maneger?
