Hi there,

I have WinXP home and it's no longer starting. All I get
is a blue screen with this messaage:

autochck program not found - skipping AUTOCHECK

I'm pretty sure that's the complete message, but it
flashes breifly and then the computer restarts. It just
loops over and over again until I hold the power switch
down and turn it off!

Please, any and all help is welcome.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi!
How many partitions are there?
You start with XP CD-ROM support and repair xp.

thanks for the help so far.

SSG - I have 3 partitions, the main c partition where
windows and programs live, a swap partition, and a data
partition with all my files.

Big Papa K - I don't have an actual WinXP cd. I have an
eMachine that came with a restore cd that basically has a
ghost image that it just copies to the hard drive. I
wouldn't have a problem using it, but I'm afraid if I do
it will botch up the partitions and I'll lose my data.

Any other ideas?

Joe

SSG -

I was able to borrow a WinXP Pro cd from a friend and have
gotten into the Recovery Console to repair Windows. It
asks for the administrator password. I have tried every
password I use and none of them work. I also tried simply
hitting enter to bypass and that doesn't work either. Any
suggestions?

Thanks,
Joe
